Our Sydney hotel was in the Potts Point area which is adjacent to the botanical gardens. the gardens afforded a pleasant walk to Sydney’s famous landmarks opera house and harbor bridge. The Potts Point area reminded us a bit of New Orleans with tree lined streets, iron railings and sidewalk cafes. The steps we used getting from our hotel area to the botanical gardens were reminiscent of the Montmartre area of Paris.
As we have frequently done in cities, we used the hop on hop off bus to get an overview of the city. Since the tickets are valid for 24 hours, it also works well for transportation when the feet are getting tired. A tour of the opera house was informative and ferry to Watson’s Bay afforded a different view of the city. The Sydney train system to and from the airport was efficient and nice to ride.
