Wadi Rum is the largest of the Jordanian valleys. It is a magnificent desert landscape carved in the sandstone and granite rock in southwest Jordan. The area can be visited either via camel or in four wheel drive open bed trucks. We used the trucks! The area is famous because it was used for some filming of the movie, Lawrence of Arabia. A number of Bedouin tribes still live in the area. Our visit ended with lunch at a Bedouin camp which also has “motel” rooms for rent.
