The two smaller peninsulas nearby were Sheep’s Head and Mizen Head. These are more barren than Beara but equally as scenic. We were glad we had considerable driving experience before trying these!

The tip of Mizen Head is the southwestern most point in Ireland and the southern most point on the Irish mainland. This was the site of the Mizen Head signal station to warn ships about the rock laden waters off this coastline. 

One of the challenging drives was the Goat’s Path Road crossing Sheep’s Head. Note the road width in the photo.
