Russ & Barb’s Travels

Romania

Constanta &

The Black Sea

We ended the river trip to the Black Sea port of Constanta through the 40 mile Danube - Black Sea Canal. This canal was begun in 1949 but not fully completed until 1987. Constanta is Romania’s oldest continually inhabited city dating back 2,500 years! Myth has it that Jason and the Argonauts stopped here after recovering the legendary Golden Fleece!

We visited the Folk Art Museum here during our walking tour of the city. The day was completed at the water’s edge of the Black Sea. Several of our group dipped their toes into the water!
