Russ & Barb’s Travels
Pitigliano, Castiglione
We continued our tour south and west toward the Maremma coastal region. We stopped at the ancient town of Pitigliano. Here a local guide explained the historic, and still active, Jewish quarter of the town. We then continued to our home for two nights on an operating farm. Here we learned about Butteri (Tuscan cowboys) and the rare breed of cattle they raise there. That farm also has a small collections of other animals and poultry.
The following day we went to the picturesque seaside town, Castiglone della Pescaia. The day was enjoyed in this very hilly seaside town, including a great lunch.
That night, back on the farm, we were treated to musical entertainment. That is when we learned that our tour leader had been involved in the entertainment field in a former life!
