The stop in Ostend Belgium is a gateway to the picturesque city of Bruge. Our arrival in Ostend was delayed due to a partial sea pilot strike, or work slow down. A local pilot must be on board to maneuver to the dock at most ports. We had to remain in open sea, along with many other vessels, awaiting a pilot. Hence our visit to Bruge was more brief than planned by several hours. Fortuately for us, we had visited Bruge on a previous trip.
