From El Califata we flew back to Buenos Aires to end the main part of our tour. We then flew north to Iguazu Falls. Here we were at the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
Iguazu falls actually consists of about 275 individual waterfalls covering almost 2 miles. The drop in the “devil’s throat” fall at 230 feet is about twice as high as Niagara Falls. About 2/3 of the falls are in Argentina.
Spectaular views of the highest falls are from the Brazilian side, which we hiked through one afternoon.
The Argentine side has a large park where you can ride a small train to various points in the park. We observed much wildlife during our walks. A boat ride took us close to the base of several falls. We got completely soaked on this ride! Fortunately we were furnished rubber bags to transport dry clothes.
