Lisbon is an easy city to get around in both on foot and a metro system. We thought their bus and trolley system was confusing and when we were going to use it each trolley was already over packed with passengers.
Many sidewalks are tiled with smooth granite or marble tile. These are attractive but can be quite slippery when wet. As we would learn, Portugal is famous for their tilework. There is a tile museum in Lisbon that Barb and I visited that had tile murals covering an extended period of history.
We made a day trip to Sintra, principally to visit the Pena Palace. When we arrived at the palace the fog was so thick we could barely make out the structure outlines! We joined the long line of other tourists first thing in the morning, to visit the rooms of the palace.
With our tour group we walked much of the central part of Lisbon. Our fitbits recorded over 17,000 steps that day! We got a good introduction to the extensive use of tiles in Portugal.
At a group dinner we were treated to a private Fado performance. This unique music style was a treat to listen to.
