Monreale is a very short 8 km. hop from Palermo. The 12th century Norman cathedral with its mosaics is the main attraction here. The cathedral is literally wall papered with golden mosaics that tell the stories of the bible.

Cefalu is an attractive beachside city.  Other than the interesting medieval streets that are fun to explore, the two main attractions are “La Rocca” and the Duomo di Cefalu. La Rocca (the rock) is an imposing rock rising 270 meters above the city that provides ample opportunity for some rigorous hikes resulting in some great views. The 12th century Duomo contains the oldest Byzantine church mosaics in Sicily.
