Dubrovnik was the culmination of our tour down the Dalmation coast. The old city is a maze of wide and narrow streets, shops, restaurants, churches, etc. The wall is a scenic 1.3 mile hike around the old town, some of which calls for some steep steps up and down. We found the walk around the wall provided fascinating views of the city as well as surrounding territory. Most of the destruction from the 1990’s siege on the city has been repaired. The tourist trade has returned to Dubrovnik, which makes for crowded conditions at times. But, that is the economic life blood for most of the establishments inside the old city. Our hotel was in the Lapad area of Dubrovnik. The 10-15 minute city bus ride to the old city provided a glimpse of the newer part of the city.
