After our two weeks in Switzerland we traveled by train to Innsbruck Austria. We had visited Innsbruck previously but only for part of a cloudy day. Also, we had read about the nearby town of Hall, which we wanted to see. Our hotel in Innsbruck looked down on what Rick Steves describes as “ground zero” for tourists. He was absolutly correct! We observed the crowds of photo taking tourists as early as 8:30 AM and as late as 11:00 PM! Nevertheless, they provided plenty of entertainment for us! We found the Hall Old Town to be quite picuresque; more so that Innsbruck’s old town. We were able to go up the mountain, Hafelekar, above Innsbruck which we hadn’t done previously because of the clouds. We read about a nearby attraction, Swarovski Kristellwelten. Going there was covered on our Innsbruck Card and thinking we would see a factory tour, we went. It turns out to be more of a museum for Swarowski crystal constructions and, of course, a visit to their gift shop. It was interesting but we were glad we hadn’t paid extra to go there!
