After our tour we, along with Barb’s sister and brother in law, took the ferry from Kusadasi, Turkey to the island of Samos, Greece. We spent four days on Samos. Barb’s sister flew to Athens after two days. We had an apartment in Pythagorion on the South side of the island.
We were disappointed in our stay because so much of the island had already shut down for the winter, which we did not anticipate. We encountered a British couple who also had not realized the island was shutting down this early. The four of us spent two very enjoyable dinners, however, which made up for both of our lack of adequate planning! The weather was pleasant and it was good to “slow down” after our Turkey tour.
We then flew to Athens where we were anxious to visit the new Acropolis museum, which did not disappoint us. We celebrated Russ’s 72nd birthday in Athens before flying back home.
Another very memorable trip. We had many pleasant experiences with a lot of very friendly people.
