We had a direct flight from Chicago O’Hare to Anchorage which is about the same length flight as to Europe.. The next morning a van from Rust’s aviation picked us up at our hotel for the drive to Lake Hood Seaplane base outside of Anchorage. With ideal weather for flying we had a very comfortable trip to view Denali, formerly Mount McKinley.

That evening marked the official beginning of our cruise with everyone getting a Covid test at the hotel. Anyone who tested positive would not be boarding the ship the next morning! The next day we were bussed on the  scenic drive to Seward to board our ship for an evening departure. Enroute we stopped for lunch and to tour the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
