Our first two days gave us an exciting introduction to glaciers and chuncks of ice that had broken off of the glaciers. We had time to explore our home for the next two weeks as well as get to meet and chat with some of our expedition crew. An example was a young woman doing research on Orca whales for a British firm that was her employer.

The passage into College Fjord was beautiful  as was the journey into Icy Bay. In Icy Bay we could go on our first off ship expeditions. Some chose to do the kayaks. Some of us chose the Zodiacs. Some may have chosen to remain in the comfort of the ship! We started developing an appreciation for the skill and knowledge of our Zodiac drivers.
