On the last few days we visited the town of Wrangell, cruised into Misty Fjords and Neets Bay. We were not able to go to Alert Bay as planned. Alert Bay is in Canadian waters and the authorities informed our Captain that they would not have any customs personnel available at our arrival time of 10:30 PM. Thus we diverted to Neets Bay instead.
Wrangel’s beach has a number of stones with petroglyphs on them. Wrangel is one of Alaska’s oldest island towns.
Misty Fjords National Monument lived up to the name. We were able to get close to a number of the waterfalls, albeit in the rain, on our final zodiac excursion.
In Neets Bay an Orca decided to perform close enough to us for easy photographing.
At our morning arrival to the Vancouver dock, we realized how small our ship was in comparison to most of the Alaska cruise ships! The local longshoremen came aboard and transported our luggage onto the dock very efficiently.
