The captions on the photos are generally self explanatory. The hikes we did of significance were the Lower Burro Mesa Pouroff, the Santa Elena Canyon Trail and the Chisos Basin Loop Trail. Barb refrained from most of the Santa Elena Canyon trail because of the height on the edge of the cliff without guardrails. We noticed our breathing on the Chisos Basin trail then realized we were hiking at about 5400 feet elevation!
The Terlingua cemetery was just across the road from our lodging. Obviously, burials are not far below the surface due to the rocky soil!
Our all day canoe trip on the Rio Grande was fun. We were pleasantly surprised that we could handle our canoe through some mild rapids! We were at low water time so the river depth varied from a few inches to a couple of six foot deep places near rapids. We stopped for a great lunch at noon where we could do a nice hike with views high above the river.
