Jerash is about an hour’s drive north of Amman. The city’s golden age came under Roman rule and it has one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Ajlun Castle is an ancient site within the Ajloun forest region. It was first built in 1184 to repel the Crusader threats to north Jordan.
