The next stop on our tour was Beaune in the heart of the Burgundy region. The primary attraction here was Hôtel Dieu, a medieval charity hospital, which is now a museum. This hospital was built in 1450 and served as a hospital until 1971. There were separate wards for paupers and the wealthy, as well as a chapel.

We discovered that Beaune also has a great outdoor market.

A very interesting visit was to the Chateau du Rully. This is a private home and vineyard with a young family. While there we enjoyed a great picnic prepared by our tour leader while we were being shown the Chateau and wine tasting by the owner.
