After our tour we stayed in Marseille one day and took a Calanques Cruise to Cassis. The Calanques are narrow, steep sided valleys partially flooded by the sea, surrounded by rugged white cliffs.
A regional train took us to Avignon where we toured for the day before picking up a rental car.
The next three days were filled with drives to several of the lovely hill towns of the Luberon area. Our home base was a great B&B, Les Passiflores, in the hamlet of Huguets. Here we not only had a quiet place to stay but also enjoyed three gourmet dinners.
After returning our car to Avignon we took the train to Montpellier. Montpellier is a university town with one of the largest pedestrian “squares” we have ever seen. This city was on our itinerary as a convenient place to catch our train to Barcelona.
