Norcia was traditionally the center for butchering and the town is still full of butcher shops. Farther east we drove the very winding mountain road climbing to about 5,000 feet to the high plane, Piano Grande. there we visited the hamlet of Castellucio for lunch. A shepherd with his dog was in the valley with his flock.
