The village of Atrani is not a tourist place in comparison to its neighbor Amalfi.
Our apartment was 150 steps up from street level! Fortunately, the first 100 steps could be covered using an elefvator. We also had five keys to locked doors on our path to get into our apartments! As can be seen from the photos, we felt the effort to get high above the village was well worth it!
Atrani being on the coastal highway made for frequent entertainment when cars had to back up so the bus could negotiate the curve in the road below us.
However, our week there was significantly interferred with by a company using the village as a base to produce a film series. They had closed down the restaurants and taken over the beach and town square. Frequently we would be shuffled away from a spot by security people when filming was going on. On the other hand, their activities did provide entertainment for us when we were in Atrani. Considering the pandemic situation, this was probably an economic boon to the village!
