Munich was the final stop on our trip after a brief two hour train ride from Innsbruck. A heat wave was expanding across Europe which put a bit of a damper on enjoying the visit, although the shade in the beer garden’s helped somewhat.
A visit to the Dachau concentration camp memorial occupied much of a day. We don’t have photos here since we already have several on a previous trip page. Click here if you want to see them. This is a well done and very sobering visit. Man’s inhumanity to his fellow man is difficult to comprehend.
We were able to photograph movies of the Glockenspiel in the Marienplatz, which isn’t easy when you are there with several hundred of your closest friends also watching.
It was interesting seeing the sprawling Nymphenburg Palace complex. The girls thought living in a place like that might be fun.
Maggie, being a life guard, wanted to swim in the pool at the Olympic grounds. It was interesting to see this complex from the 1972 Olympics and how it is basically deserted now.
After this whirlwind two week trip, we flew back to the US. All tired but exhilarated from a very successful trip.
