Danube


These photos are scenery from one day that we just cruised the Danube instead of visiting a town. This section of the river once was rough with deep gorges. In the 1960’s Yugoslavia and Romania cooperated on a joint venture that raised the level of the Danube with a series of hydroelectric dams known as Iron Gates. The river is now placid between the Iron Gates, the craggy two mile long gorge is now underwater.
