Russ & Barb’s Travels
Serbia
Novi Sad
Novi Sad, located on a bend in the Danube River, is Serbia’s cultural hub and the second largest city. The name in English translates to “new garden”. We went on a walking tour of the town and had lunch at a local restaurant.
High on the bluff overlooking the river is Petrovaradin Fortress which was built in 1780. Many of us went with our tour leaders on a walking trip over the bridge and up to the fortress. Because of the steep climb up and very uneven steps not everyone went. Russ did, Barb chose to photograph the group crossing the bridge. Our vessel was anchored on the opposite side of the river from the fortress.
