Russ & Barb’s Travels

Harlingen, The Netherlands

Visiting harlingen offers a glimpse into a traditional Dutch port town. A highlight of this stop was taking a Zodiac cruise through the town’s historic canal system, providing a unique and up close perspective of its picturesque waterways. This included passing through a lock at each end of the canal. An added adventure for our group was the motor quitting on one of the Zodiacs. The crew was prepared and quickly brought out a stowed tow line, connected it and we were on our way.

A unique attraction is a large, whale shape, rock in the harbor. The rock has been fitted with a waterspout that shoots off every few minutes.
