Russ & Barb’s Travels

Sovana

Today we explored the Etruscan archeological site of Sovanna. A local guide took us through this site explaining the discovered tombs of this first civilization of Tuscany. We then continued to the small Tuscan town of Sovana.

In Sovana we visited a local producer of extra virgin olive oil. He explained their operation and, of course, had product for sale. In the evening we had a cooking demonstration on making the local traditional pasta called “pici”. A couple of our tour members got to try their hand at it. That evening we had dinner which included this type of pasta.
