Russ & Barb’s Travels

Val D'Orca

Today on our drive through the Val D’Orca region we stopped in the town of Pienza. Here we were given a tour of a small private archeological site that is not being excavated nor is open to the public. It had been discovered by the land owners when cleaning up the property they had purchased.

After scouting around the quaint town we regrouped and bused to the Brunello di Montalcino winery. The owner showed us their operation then we enjoyed a delicious lunch complete with some of their own produce.
