Russ & Barb’s Travels

Grutschalp to Murren

The hike between Grutschalp and Murren, affectionatetly known as the grandfather’s walk, is one of our favorites. From Lauterbrunnen we took the cable car to Grutschalp. The scenic, and easy, walk is from Grutschalp to Murren. A traditional part, for us, is to arrive at Winteregg about noon to have lunch at the restaurant there while having to endure looking at the scenery. As you can see from the photos some of this walk is through open cattle range.

After strolling through the scenic town of Murren we descended by cable car to Stechelberg. From Stechelberg the stroll is pleasant through the valley back to Lauterbrunnen.
