After our OAT tour we flew from Johannesburg to Cape Town where we explored the area for the next four days. We found the hop on hop off bus to be a great way to see this beautiful city. Our guest house was also situated nicely to walk to the waterfront as well as convenient to restaurants via brief taxi rides.
We had arranged an all day tour to the Cape of Good Hope, which incuded a stop to see the penguins at Boulders Beach. The Cape was blustery and rainy, which helped envision the weather that caused many shipwrecks there.
A half day tour of a township proved to be enlightening and thought provoking. Our guide livied in the township which made it feasible to meet and talk to some residents.
We also arranged for an all day tour of the winelands area near Cape Town. This was a rainy day so good for an inside activity like wine tasting. Our guide had selected three wineries for us to visit so we were glad we weren’t driving!
