Our drive from Grand Junction to Diurango took us near Telluride over scenic mountain roads. In Durango we stayed at the old classic Strater Hotel downtown.

The significant attraction for us  in Durango was to take the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge train between the two places. The train ride was fun and traveled over some precarious terrain. We could not imagine the workmen laying the original tracks in 1881! Unfortunately, due to the ending of the tourist season most of Silverton was shut down! No doubt a few places had been casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic.
