Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia is one of the natural attractions that is difficult to describe until you see it. It is like one giant waterfall broken into thousands of pieces! In the course of our three hour or so hike a new and amazing view was at every turn. Since we were there in the autumn, the leaf colors were very bright. Unfortunately, the day we were there it was overcast and misting rain part of the time. Thus, a lot of colors did not come out well in the photos. As can be seen, there are a lot of board (logs actually) walks. What doesn’t show up in the photos is that many, many of these board walks are actually steps, sometimes quite steep. Wet logs and steps make for some quite cautious walking! There is frequent heavy mist from the waterfalls that also contributes to the damp walks.
