We did many mountain hikes in Switzerland. Actually most hikers would more properly call these walks since most aren’t really rugged or particularly strenuous. Nevertheless we were hiking at altitudes in the 5,000 - 6,000 ft. range, which for 70+ year olds represented exercise. Swiss trails are wonderfully signposted so on easy trails one would have to work at getting lost.
The photos here are from four hikes. The “grandmother’s” walk is about 3 miles between Mannlichen and Kleine Scheidegg. Most rational people take the train back to Wengen. We hiked back down the 2500 foot altitude drop. The next few days our legs told us we should have left that to people much younger than us. We did have a nice chat along the way with a group of young people from Scotland!
The next hike photos were from a pleasant 4 mile walk along the shore of Lake Brienz between Iseltwald and Giessbach. We took the lake boat from Interlaken to Iseltwald and back to Interlaken from Giesbach.
The next walk photos are from the famous “grandfather’s” walk between Grutschalp and Murren. This popular 4 mile walk has a restaurant half way with great views.
The last hike photos are from the 1.5 mile Blumenweg (Flower trail). We went by bus from our home town of Frutigen to Adelboden, then by gondola to Sillerenbuhl. This trail is lined with flowers that have identifying signs by them. Unfortunately, only a few were in bloom at this time of year. At the end of this walk we returned via gondola from Hahnenmos to Geils and bus to Adelboden then Frutigen.
