The explanation for the Domodossola photo is: One rainy day we were looking for some place to go with good weather. We realized that crossing to the south side of the Alps got us good weather and our Swiss rail pass was valid to Domodossola, Italy! About 1-1/2 hours after boarding our train in a drizzle, we were in sunny Italy! We enjoyed a great lunch there. One interesting part of this trip was traveling in a 21 mile tunnel; one of the many engineering marvels on Swiss railways!.
