Two of our favorite walks are affectionately known as the grandfather and grandmother walks. Both are scenic and as one might guess, fairly easy. Both are a leisurely 2-3 hour walk The two are on opposite sides of the valley. The grandmother’s walk however is about 1500 feet higher in elevation.

The grandfather’s walk is from Grutschalp to Murren. One feature we have always enjoyed on this walk is a lunch stop at Winteregg. It would be difficult to find a more scenic spot to loiter over lunch!

The grandmother’s walk is from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. We decided that whoever assigned the nicknames had a grandmother who had more sturdy feet than their grandfather! This walk’s path has many more rough stones in it than the grandfather’s walk. In spite of that, it is still a very scenic and easy walk.
