The city of Thun is on Lake Thun where the Aare River exits on its way to the nation’s capital, Bern. Our trip was a break from the  mountain walks. We took the train to Interlaken where we boarded one of the ships that regularly cruise the lake making multiple stops on their way to Thun. The scenic trip was so pleasant that we also returned instead of via train or bus.

Thun has many attrractive streets to walk as well as some interesting building facades. The Aare river provides opportunities for plantings and recreation.

A castle that is picturesque on Lake Thun is at the village of Oberhofen. We did not have time to stop for a tour so the photo is all there is here.
