This day we took the Postbus from Meiringen on the very winding road up the mountain to Schwarzwaldalp. From there we walked an easy, scenic, path downhill to the Rosenlaui Gorge.

The gorge is a very narrow canyon where the Weissenbach River rushes through. Hiking the gorge involves steep climbing of about 200 steps. They weren’t all at one location, but close! Fortunately there were guard rails! The noise level is quite high at some points due to narrowness and high volume of rushing water. At the end of the gorge is an open area that made for a quiet picnic spot. The walk back down through the forest  to our starting point  to catch the bus was a welcome part of the hike!
