The most rugged hike we did was above Locarno to Cimetta. We took a local bus to Orselina, an aerial cabin car to Monte Cardada, then a 6 minute chairlift ride to Cimetta. At that point we were at 5400 feet altitude where we started the hike to the peak, another 700+ foot rise.
