The Netherlands is known for its canals. While many Dutch towns only have one main canal surrounding the city, Leiden has an ample variety crisscrossing the city. They are very picturesque, but we learned that these can lead to being temporarily “lost”. Some cities, like Utrecht, have two level canals which provide a different appearance.
