We continued our Westward travel to the coastal city of Kusadasi. Two major attractions here are Aphrodisias (1st and 2nd century A.D. city) and Ephesus. At Ephesus we encountered the hoards of cruise ship folks. We arrived at the gates before opening to be ahead of most, one hallmark of Rick Steves tours we have found. Ephesus was a large city, believed to have 250,000 people in the first century B.C.. There is still much excavation and restoration on going at Ephesus. At Kusadasi we bid farewell to our new found friends as some returned home and some continued on to new locations.
