Russ & Barb’s Travels
Buenos Aires-
Ushaia
Buenos Aires is a city that travelers from many countries can easily fly to. Other than an organizing point, it was not really part of the HX tour. As usual, we arrived a day before the tour started. Having been there previously we did not feel the need to “tour the city” again. We were fortunate that the hotel was about two blocks from where we had stayed before so we were familiar with the neighborhood.
Ushuaia is the launching point for many Antarctica tours as well as cruises to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. For many years Ushuaia claimed to be the southernmost city in the world. That claim is now made by Puerto Williams. We spent little time here since the goal was to board our ship, the Roald Amundsen. This was a happy reunion for us since this is the ship we had been on for our Alaska trip.
