Arriving at Douarnenez was unique because their dock cannot accommodate anything other than small boats. Hence we had to anchor out a ways and take the Zodiac’s in. We opted to go on an optional trip to the nearby city of Quimper. This town is best known for Quimper faience, a tin-glazed pottery which has been made here since 1609.

The original cathedral here dates to 1239. Over the years additions and repairs have resulted in the choir being out of line with the nave. This can be observed on the ceiling. There are various theories as to how this came about but none documented. The slight bend can be seen in our photo.
