Valpariso

The HX tour ended in Valpariso. We had arranged for a local tour company to pick us up at the dock, tour Valpariso, then take us to our hotel in Santiago.

Valpariso is the second most populous metro area in the country. It is located about 75 miles from Santiago. This is a city with very steep hills, hence a number of funiculars. Fortunately for us we were in a mini van that took us up to one section of the city. There we walked through a fascinating part with colorful murals and paintings. We also had lunch at a small cafe before departing the city.

The region between Valpariso and Santiago has a number of wineries. We stopped at one that used totally organic practices. Here we learned about their methods and, of course, had to do some tasting.
