Our Trips (2023 - on)

We are not including very many photos of Grand Teton park. We took a lot but in reviewing them we realized two things. First, photos just do not capture what the eye and brain registered in viewing mountains. Secondly, mountain photos start looking very much alike!

The Tetons are special because they do not have foot hills. There is the valley floor and then the mountains! As mountains go, the Tetons are quite young, hence the presence of sharp jagged peaks. The drive paralleling the range is very interesting because one realizes that the peaks you see are not really all nicely lined up. Hence you see the view of the various peaks change as you travel. The valley floor here is only about 500 feet lower than the Yellowstone level but you are seeing peaks of almost 14,000 feet.

We went on one two mile hike at Colter Bay which was guided by a park ranger. We had planned to go on another by ourselves. The ranger suggested for only two hikers they have bear spray at any time and in particular where we were because there was a mother and cubs in the area. We decided to not do our planned hike!

We stayed in cabins at Colter Bay. We enjoyed the much less crowded situation in comparison to Yellowstone.
